[Allah almighty tests his beloved. The prophets were tested more than others and they rose to the occasion. The prophets Ibrahim and his son (peace be upon them) did not waiver in their devotion. The final prophet of Allah (peace be upon him) did not waiver in his resolution. The sahabah and the pious endeavoured to follow suite. In happiness and sadness they turned to Allah almighty alone.]

This celebration, this Eid, this happy occasion is informing us. It is telling us to recap that look at the beloved slaves of Allah almighty. [Look] at the example they have left for you. To pass your life you must keep this example in front of you.

In this gathering if you are looking good after a bath, a time will come when you will leave this world and you will be wearing good clothing. However, the one who puts the clothing on you will be someone else. The one bathing you will be someone else. Do not forget that either.

Do not forget that bed, that funeral which is saying,

See me with your mind’s eye not these eyes of yours. Look at me with the eyes of your mind, with the eyes of wisdom. I have been prepared for your transport. This bed, this funeral is saying that I have been made for your transport. I am the bed of death and funerals like me have passed with many like you.

In these happy times do not forget the other realm which is coming. [The day in which no money or children will be of benefit except for those whom Allah almighty has given a secure heart.]

يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ مَالٌ وَلَا بَنُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى اللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ
