Lisaan is Arabic lexical resource, made up of many classical modern Arabic dictionaries, from the earliest authorities (such as Kitāb al-ʿAin of al-Khalīl b. Aḥmad) to later dictionaries, such as the Ṣiḥāḥ of al-Jawharī, al-Muḥkam of the Andalusian scholar Ibn Sīda (d. 1066 CE / 458 H) and Lisān al-ʿArab of Ibn Manẓūr (d. 1311 CE / 711 H), all the way to Orientalist and contemporary dictionaries.
